Body Therapies

Reiki

Reiki is a form of complementary therapy relating to energy healing. The word “Reiki” means “mysterious atmosphere, miraculous sign.” It comes from the Japanese words “rei,” meaning universal, and “ki,” meaning life energy.

Reiki is a type of energy healing. According to practitioners, energy can stagnate in the body where there has been physical injury or even emotional pain. In time, these energy blocks can cause illness.

Reiki sessions are either 60-minute or 90-minute sessions and are offered at Monbulk.

Massage

At The Hills Holistic Wellness, we offer massage from two different practitioners who practice it in a variety of different ways.

Remedial/Somatic Massage

Massage sessions with Sarah are a blend of deep pressures with fluid slow movements which work to quiet the mind and calm the nervous system in turning off stressful states.

Many disease processes are due to poor posture, chronic pain and emotional disturbances including anxiety, stress and trauma, these sessions target these issues.

Reflection and guidance is given on how to work with these mental processes or patterns that might be creating dysfunction in the tissue texture and structure of the body and postural correction and specific exercises are recommended to help support the physical body.

Remedial Massage

Massage sessions with Debbie focus purely on relaxation. Relaxation massage has been known to have benefits lasting several days, clearly not an absolute cure for any health problems but when combined with holistic practices it can offer the following benefits:

  • Relieves back and neck pain

  • Lowers blood pressure – at least for a while

  • Improves peripheral circulation

  • Improves skin tone and appearance

  • Improves gastrointestinal motility, hence improving bowel movement and overall digestion

  • Reduces muscle tension such as the relief of muscle tension headaches

  • Relieves some stress-related symptoms; this can include providing a boost to the immune system after undergoing regular treatments

  • Improves sleep

  • Supports healing of minor skin abrasions

  • Speeds up recovery of soft tissue injuries

  • Improves range of motion

  • Promotes relaxation

Massage sessions are 45-minutes, 60-minute or 90-minute sessions and are offered at Monbulk and Gembrook.

The gentle yet potent modality of Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a way to ‘unblock’ tension and restore free flow of energy (chi/ki/prana) to the parts of ourselves that have become constricted or shut down due to trauma or illness and daily stresses.  CST works with your own ‘craniosacral rhythm’ (the subtle movement of cerebrospinal fluid within the body) to release stored trauma within the body-mind and the feeling senses of the heart and emotions.

The Craniosacral system includes the cranium, membrane system, spinal cord, cerebrospinal fluid, sacrum and central nervous system. Trauma to one part of this system affects the whole. By gently moving in harmony with the body, tensions and imbalances are released and over time, even deep traumas may be entirely resolved.

So how does this feel in a full Craniosacral Therapy session? You may like to think of it as somewhere between a Reiki session and a therapeutic massage.  CST is quite light in touch - no more than 5grams –  yet is remarkably potent and can bring about transformative and lasting healing effects within the body and emotions.

Craniosacral Therapy is known to be particularly helpful for conditions including;

Headaches

Migraines

Back Pain

Scoliosis,

Autism

Birth Trauma (in both mothers and infants)

Fybromyalgia

PTSD

Depression/Anxiety

Eye Problems

Tinitus

TMJ Dysfunction

Stress

Insomnia

Vertigo

Conditions affecting Central Nervous System and many others

Craniosacral sessions run for 90 minutes and are offered at Monbulk.
